Can't believe the lack of options

So I've started using the MFP app again and literally there have been no new exercises added for years. The options in the database are really poor IMHO a d it's making me think of switching to a new app.

I usually walk, use the cross trainer AKA ski machine and row for cardio plus strength training and most of the time I end up just selecting something random.

I'm also on the premium trial thinking it would allow me more options but nope.

Am I the only one with this problem?

    Options for what?

MFP's exercise selection includes walking, rowing, and strength training. Instead of selecting something random, why not select one of those?

MFP has pretty much every base exercise included in their exercise choices. But they are basic, general choices that have standardized MET values and can be more or less easily calculated for your weight. Not every single exercise lends itself well to that. But most exercises can fall under those categories. If you have a specialized exercise that doesn't fit one of the categories, it allows you to create your own personal exercise and enter the relevant calories as given to you by the machine or an HRM. Exercises calories no matter what are always an estimate anyways, so there is no way that MFP could calculate them close to 100% for you, no matter how many exercises you enter.

This. Switching to another app is not going to solve this problem.

Pick something close to what you did. Observe what your weight does during a month of tracking accurately (i.e. weighing all your food). Adjust your exercise calorie burn estimates based on whether your weight behaves as expected.

Which exercises are you looking for that aren't there?
