Will this avoid gaining so much weight

For a long time i have been depressed and it effected my eating habits, i would only eat about 1200 calories a day, and drink nothing but water, i also exercised alot. I lost alot of weight, but now i want to eat more(but not gain so much weight), i heard that my metabolism should be low right now cause of this, meaning if i eat a regular calorie intake i will gain alot of weight back. If i slowly add more calories to my diet over time, until i reach regular level, will i avoid gaining so much weight? And how slowly Should i start adding more calories?

Hi, if you add calories gradually, and keep your exercise routine, you probably won't regain. Personally I'd recommend adding 100 calories a day the first week, another 100 the second week, and so on until you get to what is a normal intake. Do you know what's "normal" for your age/goal weight?0

I would 2nd bumping your calories to 1300 for a week and seeing where you are at. If you don't gain, go to 1400. Go up 100 calories per day per week until you figure out what it takes for you to sustain your weight.0

3rd the slow addition.... bump it up 100 calories a day for a week and make sure you are logging effectively and see where you are on the scale.... It is probably inevitable that you wouldn't put on alittle weight no matter how slow you up your intake but eventually everything will balance out... Best of Luck0

I've posted about this in another thread, but you should look into low fat raw veganism - I am coming from a damaged metabolism and now I can eat 1700+ calories without gaining weight, and my metabolism loves it! I think the best way to repair a metabolism is to eat clean, raw plant foods without any added salt/sodium containing products. Look up Freelea's Raw till 4 program on youtube, it's designed metabolism repair. I hope you find something that works and will let you eat enough without gaining weight! It's the hardest thing to do for someone with a slowed metabolism but it CAN be done0

This post explains everything and how to do it in very easy to understand terms and also explains why we put weight on when we up our calories.

Please do not assume that your depression is the same as everyone elses. Depression can manifests in different ways depending on other factors.

Come on! This is a bit harsh! Depression is a different experience for everybody, just as weight loss is. You can't assume that your depression is the same as everybody else's. Many people do gain weight when they are depressed. They seek comfort in food. Of course it is the eating that causes the weight gain but depression is a factor in that....
We could break it all down to "fat because I eat too much and don't exercise enough" but it's not like that for a lot of people. There are stories behind their journies and it is these stories which makes each journey unique. It isn't "justification", it's what makes us individuals!!

Apparently READING is not your strongest subject. I made no comparison to the OP's issues and mine. If you READ it again you will see that I SPOKE FOR ME, not anyone else. Facts are facts and the fact is if I were to blame outside things on MY weight issues instead of addressing them I would be 69 lbs. heavier than I am today.
Just like the alcoholic that continues to blame others or their problems for their alcoholism they will continue to drink, this I know first hand as well.1 -

Being depressed can make it feel impossible to deal with anything - even going out of the bed in the morning.. and some people when depressed will eat to feel better, others will not eat at all.
