Tackling excess calorie intake at the week-end get-together

My week days meals are fairly planned out and meet the MFP suggested calorie goal. However at the end of the week are inevitable meetings with family/friends and dining out or having grand meal at home.Even today I overate by 680 calories. We went to KFC before a Birthday party and I ate 2 Veg stripes at KFC and chips, cake, cookie at BP. (Now looking back I should not have had my breakfast today!) I try to take lesser calories/exercise more other day to even out the weekly goal of calorie intake. But it really slows my weight loss. Is there some other ways to even out those calories?

If you know that things are going to come up on the weekend, you can do a few things:
    1. Eat under your calorie goal by 100 or so M-F to leave some room for the weekend.
    2. Do extra workouts to burn extra calories and create a larger deficit for the week.
    3. Take your own food and snacks along with you. This work well if going to a bbq or pot luck. Not so great for eating at restaurants. Plan ahead and order accordingly.

Thanx! I liked your first advice best as it would prepare me beforehand for the extra calories with less strain. I try to work out at least 6 hours per week these days.

That's what I do every week. I know it's harder for me to stay under at the weekend, so I make room for it during the week and try to do an extra workout or two on Friday and Saturday (don't really have time on Sunday).

It's worked really well for me so far.
