I want to be slim for once

Hi all...I'm back to my fitness pal after years.

I've been overweight all my life, reached 100+kg at one point and struggled with dieting and self confidence in the past. After many trials and errors, counting calories and lots of food restrictions, I got to 66 kg by the end of 2016 - it's not even in the healthy weight range for a 158 cm me, but I was actually pretty happy with how I was; I found my lost self confidence after so long. Long story short, lots of things happened and I've been stress-eating, losing my self-control too much afterwards and now I'm back to 86 kg.

I really hate how I look in the mirror so I've been trying to start dieting again in the past few months...but it's very hard to be back on track. I even signed up for a gym in June but I almost never go again after the first 2 weeks. Dieting somehow feels harder than last time.

I realized yesterday I'm starting to lose the confidence I built so hard again, I've been avoiding social gatherings and evening outs all September bcs I don't like how I look now....Then I remember how I found reading everyone motivating and befriending each other in my fitness pal community here really helped me started and pushed through my hard diet times back then (and I was a passive member, I never post anything so the threads I read weren't even mine to begin with). So I just feel like starting a thread this time as a reminder to myself that I seriously should commit to this (like a public pledge?) and probably get some support from the kind members here to keep me going again.

My short term goal is to lose 10kg-15kg by the end of this year, but I don't want to stop halfway like last time. I want to be in a healthy weight, slim and feel pretty, for once.

(sorry for the long post and dumping my stressful thought here T_T)

Welcome back to the community! <3

If you haven't already, read the stickies at the top of the getting started forum. Very informative and helpful.

Buy a food scale. Weigh everything you eat and log into the food diary.

    Good luck with your journey!

Thanks for sharing your story. I too stepped away from this approach for awhile and then came back. Having community is good, especially when you find yourself moving too far inwards. Like you, I find myself not going out as much or otherwise struggling with confidence. For me, the source is not all about my weight but some of it is how I look, and I can get down on myself.

Keep your chin up. Your worth is not determined by how much you weigh, how many times you go to the gym, or things like this. I have found that supporting myself enough to feel I am worthy no matter what has been a game changer. I still have rough patches, no doubt. But confidence comes when you stop beating yourself up and follow your passions in life to find wellness.
