So I had been doing great at this whole dieting thing. Finally dropped below 250, feeling optimistic. So I did day one of 30 day shred. After I completed the whole damn thing (by fantasizing about finding JM and beating her with my hand weights) I woke up the next day sore but determined. Went out to the barn to gather some supplies for a small shelf project before I worked out again...and stepped onto a piece of wood covering a floor trench. That piece of wood snapped under the weight of me and my supplies, sending everything everywhere. I spent a few minutes saying very bad words and then limped off to the house, where my ankle began to take on its new shape.

Yup. Stage 2 sprain, possible broken foot. There isn't much 30DS in my future now. I'm on crutches for at least a week.

And my muscles are doubly sore from the workout and the fall.

Two steps forward, one crutch assisted step back. Screw.

Can you find a pool and go swimming? You won't have any weight on your foot and will just need to be careful getting in and out of the pool (assuming you're not in a cast.) Give yourself a few days to recover but check with your doc about what you can do. At the very least you should be able to do some upper body stuff.

Just think of the great upper body workout you'll get on crutches?

Hang in there. Give your body time to heal, then you can go back to hating Jillian.

Thanks y'all. I feel a bit more optimistic again, but being forced to sit on the couch for two days did a number on my brain for a while. There's no pool here (I'm out in the country and can't drive cause of my foot) but whoever said upper arm workout with the crutches - no lie! Good grief! I went with the kids and hubby to the splash park after my appt and just about died getting to the picnic table.

I'm adjusting my intake to reflect the inactivity, and can't wait to get moving again.
