So one of my main issues with dieting is carbs, pastas, breads, Etc are my BIGGEST problem.
Also snacking LOL, I think its prolly from getting bored at times.
Anywho!, what are some things I can do to prevent snacking all the time? lol...
Also what are some tips on ditching bread? I gave up ALL sodas about a year ago, Id like to do the same with bread.
Thanks ya'll!

Are you saying you can't control your portion sizes when it involves bread/pasta ect?
Or do you think you have to cut them out in order to lose weight?
As long as you portion out the amount of pasta or bread that fits into your calorie goal for the day, there isn't a problem.
You can try to replace some pasta with a veggie so you feel fuller, but as a dude, you can probably eat more food than you think and still lose weight at a decent clip.0 -
Try to do whole wheat bread, pasta, and rice, and do sweet potatoes instead of regular. I do this and also love love love carbs.0

My advice, for what it's worth, is not to give it up entirely, but to make it fit your goals. Others will feel differently about it - and you'll have to decide. But I feel like there is no reason to completely cut out an entire type of food that you clearly enjoy when you can continue to enjoy it in a modified fashion - meaning so that it fits within your calorie budget and is portion-controlled and/or planned for. I do get letting go of a soda habit, because there is no benefit to it (and I don't like it anyway lol). Congratulations on making that change and sticking to it.
If you do decide to give it up, it's just like anything else. Don't buy it - and replace the habit you want to get rid of with something else more desirable.
Regarding the snacking, kind of the same deal. You can snack - just log your food so that you are keeping track of what you're taking in, and make sure it fits. Your best bet is something filling, but not super calorie-dense. I do really well with a little protein (a boiled egg, a piece of string cheese, etc) - there are foods that have less calories, but these or fiber-rich foods make me feel fuller and for longer. A lot of fruit gets too sweet for me, but an apple at the right time can be really satisfying. I like popcorn, too, because I can do different things with it (herbs, spices, a judicious amount of cheese) and I can eat a lot of it without destroying my budget for the evening.
Try eating from a plate instead of out of the bag, etc, so that you don't just do it mindlessly.
Also, if boredom is sometimes the problem, pay attention to that. Are you actually hungry? If so, then choose something and eat, log it, and be happy. : ) Listen to your body.
If not, then do something different for a while - play a video game that uses your hands; take a walk; call a friend; get out of the house; exercise; whatever distracts you from what may be a momentary craving that has nothing to do with hunger.
Be honest with yourself - if you have children or have cared for children, there are times when you've probably told them no because dinner was coming up soon, they just ate, they were choosing junk, etc - do the same with yourself.
You might also need more water - this is often mistaken for hunger.
Take care - keep your goals in mind, don't beat yourself up, make small changes, allow yourself to be happy about your progress.0 -

Oh, yeah - this, too.0 -

Truth. If you really can't control the amount you eat, try freezing the bread and only thawing a couple of pieces at a time. I have to do this when I have croissants in the house.0 -
