Hi, Im kind of lost in food. Are the maco percentages right when trying to lose weight on our personal profile? If so, do they need to be met every single day as far as fats, proteins, and carbs? Thank you for the replys. I can also use some friends if anyone wants to link up during this journey, again thank you.

You can meet the macros or tweak them, if you wish. Personally, I don't pay much attention to the macros. I focus on staying in a calorie deficit and lose weight.

If you haven't already, read the stickies at the top of the getting started forum. Very informative and helpful.

    1. Log every morsel.
    2. Count calories.

    11. Macros are a suggestion of what types of foods may or may not be more healthy for you. They also help some people with satiety. My personal suggestion, not fact, is that you eat what you normally eat, keeping within your calorie goal. After a couple of weeks, review to see if you were reasonably close to the macros MFP set for you, or if there’s a big surprise. Also review to see what macros you ate the day before your easy days and what macros you ate the day before you struggled with staying within your calorie goal. Use that as a personal guide for your own personal macro goals.

Calories determine weight loss. Macros can help with satiety and compliance, and different things work for different people. The MFP defaults are fine. As you get experience logging, start paying attention to what foods fill you up, which end up being a waste of calories. On days you stick to your calories easily, what did your macros look like? Is there a pattern?

Regardless, macros are just a guide. Many of us look at protein and fat as minimums to succeed and let carbs fall where they may.

    Good luck!
