Hello, i am Hunk of Mex i can ,,,,,
and i am doing this low carb thing all over again.
Been a few days and nights and feeling the burn already.
i have lost weight in the past, but as we all know, it creeps back on in the form of carbs.
I am glad i started the commitment before i learned today that my mother had a stroke yesterday.
I have 40 to 60 pounds of fat to lose and have learned from the past, that 20 carbs or less is not sustainable.
So i have come to understand that as long as i am reasonable, the weight will still come off.
I feel 45 carbs or less seem to be enough, i get to have a little of everything ,
and of course, I will have Saturday or Sunday or ,,,,,
any day of the week can be my " ME " day.... a day when i eat a little more loosely.
Right now, home made hummus is my choice,
as well as a sheet of ultra thin flat bread toasted as my chips.
Anyone else who has been around the block like me with Atkins,
care to be supportive from time to time MFP friends ?
My diary will be repetitive usually, as i find what works and what hurts.
Keeping it simple is best. Beef , Chicken , Turkey , served as yummy as i can will been seen.
I like those fancy recipes, like cauliflower pizza crusts , but to be honest, they require some work to prepare and a lot of cheese,,,,
I am doing a more responsible Atkins, NO high cheeses or cholesterol fats as they say in the book....
After all , thinking smart is what seems logical.
I will try my best to keep up with you a few days of the week as i go along reading your food diaries and a comment here and there, maybe a yak or too along the way.
This post is for people who have been there and done that on Atkins.
My best to those of you that are just starting to understand the Atkins approach
and following the book word by word.
Hoping to find some friends with a sense of humor ,
cause you'll need one when i comment ,
Cause i tell it like it is,
When i read it.
From Chunk ,
To Hunk again in 5 months.

We're all doing the peanut butter & sardine fat flush diet.

What works is eating less calories than your body burns. Always has, always will.2

Low Carb out??, strange it is what I use. Yes, yes I know it really comes down to CICO, and I get that totally. But for me, I do via low carb, in the neighborhood of 50 total carbs per day. Do not follow Atkins, but must admit I do love that endulge carmel peanut cluster snack bar a few times per week.
I personally think many love to blast low carb, which by the way is not the same as KETO. But totally admit I do use some KETO recipes not many but some. Just like there are some recipes I use that are regular ones. And more and more Diabetes Dr.'s aka Endocrinologists are getting on board with their patients using low carb 50 to 125 carbs or so per day to do a better job of managing their diabetes. Than going normal on carbs. And yes I know this first hand, as I am a type 2.1 -
I can't say enough about the "regular food that I like" diet.
The only thing I have to do is portion my servings with a scale so I don't overeat my calorie allotment.
Refined Carbs seem like the hardest things to portion properly - maybe because they are so easy to eat; not a lot of chew factor.
It seems to me that a meal plan that lasts forever is more worth the effort, instead of a diet plan that doesn't last forever.
good luck!0 -

Could you please expand on this? Do you believe that weight gain is caused by carbs?0 -
To LyndaBBS comment on expanding on if i believe that carbs cause weight,
No i will not comment back, this sounds like a trap.
Looking for serious replies and friends ........ only.
You have 134 friends, focus on them, not me please.1 -
I asked a simple and serious question. I don't expect or deserve a rude response.0
