How do some people seem to post on every thread?

Like they seem to find every new topic and leave their thoughts. When I go into recent discussions, it's flooded with fun and games threads, and the same questions over and over. How do you find the original content so quickly?
I guess some of you have been around for 10 years or so, so you have pretty much seen it all and visited just about every thread. Are there just not many interesting new threads every day?
Sorry if this is worded badly, sometimes I struggle to make sense.

For one thing, I have the Chit Chat and the Fun and Games subforums hidden so I don't see them in the Recent Discussions list. I also have the Gaining Weight, Introduce yourself, and probably some other subforums hidden, because yeah - there are only so many topics that interest me these days.
To "follow" or "unfollow" subforums, go to the main "Message Boards" page. Hover your mouse over the subforum you want to "unfollow" and you'll see a little wheel next to the name of that subforum (like a Settings wheel) - click the unfollow prompt. That will remove all threads from that subforum from your Recent Discussions list. You can change this preference at any time. You can still access those forums by going directly to them from the "Message Boards" page.

I wish they had an option to mute threads or boards you don't want to see on the recent discussions. Some are very annoying. Maybe they do, I just haven't found it?2

THANKS...just what I needed! no more fun and games and chit chat!
EDIT: @cmriverside, I tried that and it still won't unfollow the board? when I hover over it, it says follow, then I click on it, it say unfollow....both ways when going back to recent discussions , it shows the boards still?0 -

Thanks, that's really helpful. I didn't realise you could filter out boards on the recent discussion page by clicking on the arrow, so awesome. Hopefully my groups come up under that as well.0 -

It works for me - but are you doing this from the Web version? Not the app...
I think a lot of the Settings issues have to be done on the Web version.2 -

Okay, the Arrow at the top of "Recent discussions" where it says, View "Following..."
You have to go to https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/ then hover over the subforum, click on the wheel and "Unfollow." The Arrow on Recent Discussions also has to say "Following" but start at the subforum list.

@cyaneverfat
As far as actual "Groups" - They don't come up in the Recent Discussions list anyway, you have to go to "Groups" to find them. If they are in the main forums, like in Challenges or something, you can still go to "unfollowed" subforums by going to the Main page again: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/ - just leave that Arrow list set at View "All."

Yes hiding fun and Games and Chit Chat makes it like 10 times easier. The truth is, once you get comfortable on the boards, there actually aren't that many posts. In my opinion, it seems to have slowed down a lot in the last 6 months.
As you mentioned, there is a lot of repetition, and you can usually get a pretty good idea of what is going to be a post that you don't have anything to add anything to by just looking at the title in the recent thread lists. I know I don't have a lot to add to either "looking for keto friends" or "where my vegans at" posts. So I'm able to read all the ones I think may be of interest and then I comment on the ones I think I have something to add to.
Plus it helps to work in an office all day and also have no social life.9 -

Wait until January
I gave up trying to use the forums when the filter on the recent discussions was broken for a time a while back. It was absolutely useless trying to filter through all that inane chatter.7 -

One of the weight loss challenge threads I am part of had a ton of people the 1st month....and each month thereafter the posts got less and less to just a handful now. The "January effect" in GYMS.0 -
Why wait until January? Let's all post "New Year, new me" threads. And then never come back.10

Are you talking about all of the other categories outside of chitchat? There are some who post an answer immediately on every question. I don't know but maybe they're really moderators in hiding that keep the threads up and running, compliant.
And that's a good thing, really.

Well. Some of us like to exchange knowledge with like minded individuals. I live in a small town and not many people share my goals. Besides I have met some interesting people here. Like @pinuplove , acts soooooooo hard, but is just a big softy... 🤣 now, @cmriverside , she scares the KITTEN out of me... 😥3

Speaking only for myself, I never use "Recent Discussions", and go into some subforums only rarely (Chit-Chat and Fun & Games never, unless a thread gets moved there). In a subforum, it's easy to tell what's new.
Also, I'm retired, have arbitrarily much free time, and know how to old-school 10-fingers touch-type quite fast on an actual keyboard (such as the one on my laptop). This is a dangerous combination.
I agree that traffic seems a little lighter recently.
I'm not necessarily shopping for interesting threads all the time . . . often, more like trying to help newer folks learn to use something (MFP) that really helped me bigtime, as others helped me.7 -
@psychod787 now has my Seal of Disapproval for calling me a softy.
I hang out here because I get fat again when I don't. I probably should be hanging around here more...5 -

BAAAAA! LOL1 -
I go to the community and scan through the various forums for anything interesting. If I find a post I think might develop into an interesting debate, is funny (rare these days) or out of the ordinary I bookmark it to follow.
I have way too much time on my hands in the evenings.
