nearly 8 months in and I've had what I class as my first big screw up. Before I rant I don't see this as failure, I don't think I'm somehow gaining back all the weight and I know it's only 4-500 over each day so it's probably about maintenance.
I was trying to lose all the weight (I have another 8 kg) without cheat days (don't believe in them) and without going over calories 2 days in a row. I managed over 230 days and this weekend got the better of me and I blew it two days in a row. Picking myself back up and moving on, and I'll still reach my goal, just really annoyed that I lasted so long and then let stress, crap weather and mum deciding to go nuts in the kitchen when I was home for the weekend (Dad has cancer so doesn't eat much and Mum loves mucking around in the kitchen when us kids are home) make me not have that clean record I wanted.
Perfectionism, probably, but there it is. Just wanted to rant about it haha. I'm sure we all have a long-term goal that's probably a bit silly to others.

Once in a while, it is actually recommended to take a diet break and eat at maintenance or a little above. I'm sure you won't be gaining anything, and you probably did your body good by eating more. Enjoy those calories!0

thanks. I'm more grumpy than worried! Kinda hoping the extra food results in some faster moving digestion and it all kinda takes care of itself.0 -
going over once in a while should be ok and can keep you motabilism in check - plus you ahve to rememeber to live your life as well its not all about loosing weight

Good news - you are aware of it and will get back on track.
More importantly you probably made your Mum feel better and needed for a couple of days.
Good luck and sorry to hear about your Dad.0 -
Life happens. You have to let it, and just enjoy things once in a while or else you lose all the joy. And being aware of WHY you were over your calories so you can moderate it next time is just as important.0

Apart from that, I can understand your frustration. I recently gained a couple of pounds on holiday, and while I know it's no big deal because I'll soon get them off again, there is still part of me that's a bit annoyed with myself. So, I do get it. However, the key part of everything you wrote is that you've picked yourself up and are carrying on. That's all that matters in the end (in terms of your weight loss). It's never about what someone eats on one given day (or weekend), but how they eat most of the time that matters. So, see this as a success, because you are proving to yourself that you are committed to the changes you've made, and you aren't going to let one weekend derail you. Perfection isn't what makes people succeed, it's the determination to not give up. Ok, I know this specific goal was about the numbers, about a streak of not going over your calories, but maybe it's time to make different kinds of goals.
Plus, think of the other things that are important in your life - eg. family. You probably made your mum's life a little brighter for a day or two to be able to cook up a storm for somebody. That's not something to regret.0
