Hello there
I have done this before and lost a bit of weight...but after eating lots of chocolate (covers face) back on it
Just wanted some advice
If I reduce my calories to 1200 a day will I lose belly fat too?
Or do I have to pay attention to the carbs I eat too?
I feel like I can’t win
I either eat too few calories and low carbs
Or I eat 1500 calories and eat too many carbs
So just wanted a heads up do I just count my calories.

Welcome to the community!
I think it's really important for you to follow this advice. Your thoughts about the concept of how to lose weight seem to be jumbled.
If you haven't already, read the stickies at the top of the getting started forum. Very informative and helpful.
Where you lose far is all genetics. You cannot target certain areas of the body.
Buy a food scale. Weigh everything you eat and log into the food diary.
Good luck with your journey!2 -
Thank you Lynda xx I’ll have a look now1

So basically I just count calories!! That’s brilliant!
thank u x

You couldn't possibly have read all that information in 9 minutes. 😉0
-
Haha!! I didn’t read all of it
I just read the bit about losing weight lol0 -
You cheater, you! Seriously, read it all. It will answer questions you didn't even know you had.1
-
Haha I kinda get the jist now
So basically I just concerntrate in the 1200 calories I can have a day
I was getting so confused like looking at how many carbs I’m having a day and how much protein and sugar lol0 -
Why are you focused on 1200 calories? When you entered your info, what calorie allotment did it give you? What weight loss per week did you choose?
How much do you have to lose?1 -

1200 is the bare minimum that you should be eating a day.
How much are you trying to lose and at what rate??1 -
Ok so my current weight is 11.1
My goal is 10.5
Loss at 2lb per week x0 -
Sorry I had it set at not very active haha0
-
That's way too aggressive a weekly rate given the small amount you have to lose. You should actually change it to 0.5 lbs per week.
This is why I advised you to read everything.
Knowledge is power.4 -

Given your new activity level and rate of loss, what is your calorie amount now?2 -
Changed it to lightly active
Gone up now to 1490 caloriesx
Thanks guys x I just needed to play about with it a bit
As I’ve had the same profile on my phone for years
I am so grateful 😘😘1 -
I'm glad you changed it. Now, it should be a stress free journey and you won't have to post wondering why you're not losing anything. 😀
Good luck!1 -

Leave it with me...
Might take me another day to figure that out haha 🤣🤣
Thanks for all your help x
Think my friend was making things complicated for me telling me I’ve got to eat 50 grams of carbs a day to lose weight0 -
Your friend is confused. 😞0

Or maybe she wants a body like Kim kardashian
I literally tried her diet for a week and I was starving
I don’t want a celebrity fat tummy I just don’t want a 6 month pregnant belly 🤣🤣
I will update you
I shall start next week as I am going out Tommorow and a few beers will be consumed haha!0 -

Start now! Just because you are going to have a couple beers is no excuse.....
There are no good or bad foods/drinks
Everything in moderation
A slip up here and there will not derail your progress1 -

Again, you have little to lose. If you truly want to change your lifestyle and maintain your weight after the loss, start today and learn how to fit those beers in.0 -

I have a beer whenever I want; I just budget the calories.0 -

Ignore your friend. And ignore Kim Kardashian.
Really, carb level doesn't matter, unless you're diabetic or have some other similar medical condition. The idea that carbs are evil is just one of the latest myths that is making headlines and selling books.
I lost around 50 pounds in less than a year, eating around 150g carbs daily.
For good nutrition, it's important to get a reasonable amount of protein and healthy fats, so you don't want to eat just carbs (not that you would!). Just work toward hitting a reasonable calorie goal, then when you've dialed that it, figure out what to eat to get well-rounded nutrition and feel full and energetic (which is pretty individual). You'll do fine.
One of my friends thought carbs were the magic key to weight loss, too. It's true that managing carbs does help some people control their calories (by affecting their appetite) but otherwise there's nothing magical about carbs. (My friend who thought that is still overweight. I'm not overweight, and haven't been for 4 years now, since losing weight, despite eating all those carbs.)
Why not start logging today, to start understanding how you're eating now? That way, when you shoot for your calorie goal, you'll have some of the learning process already covered. Just remember to log the beer. (You can have beer while losing weight, too, just avoid having so much that those calories make you unable to get good nutrition.)
Best wishes!1 -
I just eat normally no diet but make sure I stay just under or hit my calorie to do that I log my food and tweak as I go if I have had a big dinner then I have a small supper, my eating pattern is weird but it works for me to lose more weight I increase my exercises and ti be honest it being consistent and sticking at it that pays off.0
