Hey there! So, if you are trying to lose weight, you are out to change your behaviors. If you do a crash diet (temporary change) and then go back to doing what you do now, you'll likely end up here again, yes? So you are looking to make changes you can sustain over time.

For me, what has worked well is making one change at a time. Once I something is solidly a new habit (after a couple of weeks), then work on making a new change. In my experience, the single most useful thing is to start by weighing, measuring and logging your food. Once you have that as a habit, you can then tackle additional changes.

You may or may not find that you need to give up sugar (individuals and opinions differ on this!), but either way, that's likely a big change. Start by focusing on weighing, measuring and logging what you are taking in. If you do not have a digital food scale, consider getting one, as weight is a much more accurate measure than anything else.

Did you give MFP your stats and it gave you a daily calorie goal? You start there. You can eat whatever you want, but try to stay within that goal everyday. Get a digital food scale and start weighing and logging everything you eat and drink. Taking a look at your diary you will start to see that certain foods have more calories than others. You may have to cut back on those or eliminate some things. Then take your measurements and keep a weekly log. As you see those changes you will be motivated to continue. Some people take photos. Moving more and logging your exercise will give you more calories to eat. This will help you to appreciate exercise and it's good for your body and mental health. Check out the stickies. They give good information. Check out the success stories. They are a constant amazement and mental uplift. Last but not least--never give up. Be persistent. Good luck.

Eat the foods you love. Stay in a calorie deficit. Lose weight.

If you trust the process, it will work. If sugar is your downfall, either keep it out of the house or work it into your calorie allotment.

Good luck with your journey! 🍒
