Insomnia

Any suggestions for insomnia, I have trouble going to sleep and staying asleep?

    I'm a horrible insomniac! I can usually fall asleep kind of ok but up-down-up-down all night😤 I take unisom now,the Doxy kind

    get a bedtime routine at a specific time
    no tv or phone
    warm milk
    melatonin/magnesium
    prescription

    if you can't fall asleep in 20 min, go do something and try again

    see a sleep doctor.

    Daily aerobic exercise can help. You can experiment with a longer/easier workout (an hour of walking) or a shorter/harder workout (15+ minutes of jogging, elliptical, or anything where your heart rate gets above 70% of max for most of the workout). You can also experiment with time of day.

    My example is that I sleep very well if I jog in the morning or at lunch. It's more variable if I jog at end of day (particularly if I do any intervals). Swimming at lunch is almost always a winner, yielding a deep sleep that night.

    BTW: Alcohol can be a real problem. It might help you fall asleep, but I seem to wake back up when it wears off.

    Eating is also an issue. Too much or too little in your stomach affects your sleep, requiring experimentation.
