Anyone travel nearly 100% of the year for work?

Hi everyone. I have a job where I am out on the road nearly every week of the year Monday - Friday. Scoring a hotel that has a functioning kitchen almost never happens and after the last 4 weeks of being in rural towns that only have a Dollar Store type of place for groceries and fast food, I am getting a bit discouraged. I have tried living off of just protein meal replacement bars and shakes but that's no way to live and I hate it. I will replace my breakfasts and snacks with things like this from the gas station but that only lasts so long before I wander off into McDonald's.

The only thing I can say is that at least CICO is a bit more forgiving when I am in situations like this but the processed food & sodium I know can wreck your body and progress just as much as calories can. I find it easier to stay on target when I am alone but when I am with a whole team I feel like I miss out on going to dinner with everybody. But that is kind of how I gained 30lbs in 3 years. It's the social FOMO vs. staying in my room and eating right.

Does anyone have any tips to surviving this? This has been my life the last 3 years and I don't see it changing anytime soon. I love my career and I love the travel but boy does it make eating right (and under budget) hard. It's all I can do to just maintain week after week and if I do lose it has been super slow. I have only lost about 12lbs in the last 6 months but I know I have messed up my own days and this can't be 100% blamed on the job.

Do you drive or fly? I drive all over for work weeks at a time. I pack one of those plug in coolers in my work truck. I bought an adapter to plug into sockets in the room. With the cooler I can bring along some healthier snacks that require refrigeration. It doesnt replace all the meals but I know at least my snacks are alot healthier for me. Good luck.. I feel your pain..

I used to travel about 25 weeks out of the year. I was with a CPA firm and working as an auditor. As a team, we would maybe go out once or twice during the week to eat dinner...otherwise, we all had work we needed to get done in the evenings from our rooms.

I always made sure I had a room with at least a microwave and a mini fridge so I could grocery shop for my food. A lot of the time I'd just pick up a rotisserie chicken that would last me 2-3 nights along with some veggies, salad mixes, etc and some fruit and whatnot. Usually PB&J for lunch and I'd eat breakfast at the hotel.

Most hotels I stayed in also had a fitness center that I could and would use. Sometimes I'd take my bike with me as well...usually when I was by myself and not with a team. I also went on walks in the mornings or evenings often.
