New job and now I'm 10lbs heavier

For the past few years, I worked two very active jobs that had me walking 10 to 12 miles a day. Then I rescued a dog (or, more accurately, he rescued me!) and added another 3 miles to my day. When I first started these jobs, weight just fell off of me. Then I became much less disciplined with what I was eating and drinking (still logged all of it) and weight loss slowed but was still going in the right direction. At that point, I lost 46lbs and had about 30 more to go.

As much as I loved those jobs, the pay was minuscule. Now I have a job that brings much need financial stability. However, it's a desk job. I had to quit my other jobs and I hired a dog walker for my pup to make up for my long absences.

With the big activity shift, my daily calorie burn has gone from 3500/3800 a day to 2000/2200. And, it's probably not too shocking to hear, my eating/drinking habits did not change. Finally made myself get on the scale and was not surprised to see an extra 10lbs. Blech.

I know exactly what to do to turn the bus around. But man, getting back to the basics is going to suck. I don't mean to sound whiny as I understand life is good and I'm very happy. But man, I'm going to miss giant baskets of fries and mugs of beer!

There are lots of ways to get your step count back up. Parking at the back of parking lots. Taking a walk on your lunch break. Smokers get to take smoking breaks, you should take a 5 minute walk break every so often. Take your dog on longer walks in the evening and before work.
