Hi Mary,
How long have you been trying to lose? Over what period of time did you gain 10 pounds? If it was a sudden increase like over a few days it is likely just a water weight fluctuations that will go back down in a short amount of time.
Are you weighing all your solid food on a food scale and personally verifying the MFP food entries you select against a nutrition label or the USDA site?1 -

Have you learned how to log food? That's where I started and all the good things that followed can be traced back to that daily habit. I lost all my weight and have maintained for 12 years. Find a way.
It's all about eating the right amounts of food.
Maybe spend some time in the forums every day reading in the Success Stories or Motivation section or join up in one of the Challenge threads. Make it your job.2
