Well I’m new here! Hiya how ya doin. I’m over 30 not yet 40 married mother of 2 in northern tundra town Minnesota.
I suffer from occasional insomnia, which like many others I make my best and most interesting major life decisions/changes at 2 in the morning. Oh, as well as my most interesting amazon purchases.
I am in dire need of shedding just under 100lbs. I have little to no motivation or drive as I feel I’m doing this on my own and I have no support.
I need a drill instructor type to push me to do better everyday.
As of right now, November 14th 2029 1:32 am I am moving forward.
I will do IF normally from 6pm - 12noon the next day (I’m a nurse so that is my typical meal times) my meals will be from 12 noon to 6.
I have no dietary restrictions.
I’m a nurse so technically I should know better before eating crap food but....whatcha gonna do?
My humor is my desperate cry for help love and support. WhoSe with me?

I'm not the drill sergeant type but enjoyed your post and wanted to wish you luck! I know what you mean about late night decisions and Amazon purchases!

As for motivation, really think about/or write your reasons for wanting to lose weight. In my case it was to improve my health and not wanting another year to go by without a change. You're not always going to feel motivated so making changes you can live with are important. Perhaps change one thing at a time, like logging your food, then cutting back calories, and so on so it's not an all-or-nothing approach.

I just hit 100lbs down from my highest, you can do this! I'm game to cheer you on but not yell at you!

Maybe rethink. It’s doubtful that the drill instructor approach will work. No one on line is going to be able to badger you into submission. It’s also unlikely that you can do it to yourself.

Motivation is overrated. It’s too unreliable sustain something as long term as lasting weight loss. What’s needed is a calorie deficit. In the end I was able to lose 100 lbs by full on calorie counting. That’s weighting and measuring what I ate and drank, crunching numbers, keeping a food diary, planning menus and identifying and solving problems. Calorie counting works.

I know, some people can’t stand it. IF is an attentive. But get a clear view of the big picture. We’re out to learn to live with some reasonable limits. Biggest Loser style boot camp isn’t required. I didn’t make goal weight by finding an inner drill instructor. I mostly made a series of deals and compromises with myself. Will power is a limited resource. It will eventually run low. Working on habits will get you farther.

Since you’re a nurse the end game of you’re current course must be known to you. You can turn things around. But a complete overnight change isn’t really needed. Consider- eating 100 extra calories a day will get us gaining about 1 lb per month. A 100 calorie deficit each day will get us losing about 1 lb per month. In the end it took me about as long to lose 100 lbs as it did to gain it. Now Ive been maintaining longer. Slow and steady wins the race.
