How do I break the habit of reading while eating?

Eating while reading is my most serious bad habit. I live alone and eat mostly whole food....lots of veggies. But the problem is in the lots. When I read with my meals I often eat large amounts of food. And even if it's healthy food, the quantity is not. I don't really feel full until about a half hour or more after I eat, so I don't have an internal signal that tells me it's time to stop. I would love some information about how to break this habit. I've tried many times unsuccessfully.

I often read while eating too, so I know the challenge. Especially in the morning, before a test. But I am not sure why you need to stop reading altogether?
I set my food out in portions before I sit down to eat. Cup of yogurt in that bowl, sprinkled with the granola already, 5 shrimp on the plate, apple washed and ready to go. That way there isn't extra for me to stuff in my face. Getting up to get more food breaks that kinda spell and ends my meal.
Hope it helps.0 -
I eat while reading (and watching TV) all the time. I do the previous poster does, portion out the serving. I pre-log my food and that keeps me from eating more.0
