Working out when sick

I woke up with a head cold, and really want to go to Pilates. I have been traveling so I haven't been to class in 4 days. We always wipe down everything we touch with anti-bacterial so I'm not so worried about infecting others, but wonder if it will slow down my recovery. I'm hosting 6 people for Thanksgiving. Would you go?

I would forgo the exercise for a couple days and rest and get better. otherwise, you may be worse by Thanksgiving.9 -
Just took a week off. Rest your body5

I wouldn't go. Even though your class wipes everything down, colds have viruses that travel by air, so you could easily infect other people.
I would absolutely stay home, take Tylenol, drink liquids, and rest, especially because of your plans to host people for Thanksgiving. Hope you feel better.11 -
Better to rest. Your body is stressed enough by the illness; Thanksgiving adds another layer of stress (even if you have an ideal family and low, low expectations of the holidays.) The whole point of working out is to take care of your body, so do that by letting it recover.2

A head cold is no reason to forego exercise as such, but not the gym, you won't want to infect others.
If you want to keep active have a walk outdoors or do a workout from home? - unless you're feeling really sucky of course, then allow yourself the rest.7 -
Colds are airborne, and you are usually in close proximity to others in a class. So even if you wipe everything down, you can still infect others. I would not go for that reason alone.
As far as doing your own execise, it depends on how you are feeling. Some exercise while you are on the mend is fine, but you don't want to make things worse by overdoing it while sick.10 -
Diseases spread through the air as well. Keep your illness at home please. I know it kind of sucks to have to miss it but think of it as a worthy sacrifice to not get others sick.6

Please, for the love of mustard, don't go to exercise class when you're sick. It's not good for you. It's not good for everyone around you. Antibacterial wipes aren't going to protect anyone from airborne germs. It's probably best for you to rest and recover, but if you really must exercise, do it at home.11

Antibacterial wipes aren’t even going to remove everything transmitted by contact. Spots can get missed and not all germs will be killed.3

Ok Ok!! I won't go :-( I'll just take some longer walks with my dog. Thanks all!9

I would avoid exposing others, but maybe do a Yoga practice at home until you're on the mend. I love Yoga with Adriene on YouTube.2
