Hi everyone just thought I'd introduce myself and ask for a bit of advice from those more experienced. My name is Sam and I am a 20 year old Male currently weighing in around 100kg. I am around 5,11 and have high body fat percentage. My end goal would be to reduce my body fat percentage very low and tone / bulk up.

I am I in the right category to ask advice on achieving my goals or is there a better suited place? I have done a lot of research but seen many different opinions. Some say to put on size first then shred fat and others say lose the far then work on bulk.
Anyone who may have done or be doing this journey have any advice??

Thanks!

Try checking out the Gaining Weight and Body Building section - there are lots of very knowledgeable folks in there: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/goal-gaining-weight

    And welcome to MFP!

    Ok, I’m similar started at 102kg approx and I’m 5’9 tall. I’m also 38.

My goal is to get down to 80kg approx and see how I look/feel.

I have pretty much been a gym goer since my mid 20s but more consistently over the past 2 years and I’ve made gains so obviously carrying some muscle under the blubber.

I’m 25 days into my calorie deficit and I’m (as of today) 6.1kg down.

Still training every other day, 10-15mins hiit cardio and 45-60 mins weights.

I’m also lifting heavy to keep muscle /strength and force fat to go.

My advice to you would be to workout to build muscle/tone, follow your calorie deficit as MFP proscribes and perhaps adjust your macros to 40% protein, 30% for fat and carbs each.

Be strict about it and it’s very do-able.

Happy to give further guidance if you need.

Oh and btw, if anybody says you can’t build muscle and lose fat at the same time... that’s balls!

Maybe high protein, I don’t know but after 6.1kg loss on the scale, I’m doing my same lifts if not slightly better.

Go figure... try for yourself and see. Btw Sheffield a lovely city, went to uni there.
