OMG i cant keep doing this

I swore I would never go on a 'diet' again. After yo-yo dieting for years I eventually found myself practicing unhealthy habits to lose weight. In order to just get healthy again, I had to refrain from any kind of 'diets' and specific restrictions. After that, I was healthy and at an ideal weight for 2 years. A week ago I was 150 pounds (after losing nearly 15) and that is up from 140, which I was a year ago. Today I am 166. How do i gain 16 pounds in a week... binge eating. I can't stop eating. The amount of food I'm eating is insane. I don't know how to stop and live healthy again without some kind of help. I know I'm not a very big person, but I am really unhealthy. I don't feel good and I'm desperate to do something different.

The first thing you should do is take a deep breath, and try to focus yourself on just getting back to your regular eating pattern and stopping the binging. You did not gain 16 pounds of fat in a week. Even on a bad binge that is not possible. What is happening now is there is a lot more water being retained by your body due to increased sodium and carb intake, as well as some extra waste hanging out in your digestive tract. If you get back to normal, controlled eating I bet you at least 10 pounds will go away in a week or two.

Focus on normalizing yourself, and then you can see what, if any diet you need to undergo. But don't make any drastic decisions based off some faulty post-binge weight readings.

I am on my second go around here on MFP. I did really well about 6 years ago. What helped me to stay on track was that I measured all my portions, invested in a food scale, logged everything, and the encouraging friends I had here. Feel free to add me if you want. I am trying to get back on track.
