Suggestions for finding a house mate?
My sister would love to find someone to share their house with them, free room and board, small stipend, in exchange for just being around to help out a bit. How does one find something like that arrangement without attracting many wild and crazy replies?? She was going to place an ad but then her dd mentioned she knew someone who did that and got robbed blind.:( Agencies in town have really been little help. My sister was hoping, going through the V.A., she could find someone but they even suggested it wasn't a good idea.
Thought maybe someone here might have a suggestion?

Maybe check out care dot com?
This is a tough one. She’s really going to have to describe what “help” means to her.0 -
Because she does expect help maybe place an ad asking for a "part time housekeeper/handy person/ gardener" (whatever) "free room and board - no pay"
Or wait until a personal reference comes up (a friends kid/relative/friend is looking for a place to live - someone referred to you, maybe who has come upon hard times)
Or the term "room and board" to me suggests she will be feeding this person (and to a lesser degree paying extra utilities for them). Maybe think of the money saved by not doing that and hire a housekeeper/contractor/gardener/handyperson every week or two to help out with what she needs.1
