Favorite fitness tracker

I have a fitbit versa but don't really love it. What is everyone's favourite fitness watch?
That works well with android phones!

I currently have a Fitbit Versa. Thinking about upgrading to the Versa 2. However, I heard good things about Garmin. I am trying to justify the high cost though since I only lift and don't run or bike. I'm interested to see the responses here.

I like my Fitbit Charge 3. But it's really going to depend on which features you are looking for in your watch. Are you wanting GPS tracking? payment features for that post jog bagel? texts on your watch? Heart rate tracking? What kind of activity are you wanting to track?

I actually really like my Apple Watch 4. I swim and cycle a lot and it tracks my swims/cycling very well. It also works well for spin class.

The downside is no auto-pause feature when on breaks while cycling, walking, running.

Garmin - most models are now general daily activity trackers plus workouts.

You'll probably get better responses if you specify what features you're looking for.

For what I want to track, Fitbit is fine.

It really depends on what you want it to do. I'm partial to Garmin products, but there product line is going to vary considerably as to features and capabilities. I'm getting a Garmin Instinct for Christmas from my wife and I'm pretty stoked.

It also depends on whether you want a device that is first and foremost a smart watch with some decent fitness tracking capabilities or if you want a robust fitness tracker with some decent smart watch capabilities.

What do you want it to do and what do you not like about the Versa?

There are tons of options but many of them may not do what you want and/or will have the same things you don’t like about the Versa.

Mine does auto pause (series 4). I think if you have auto-detect workouts enabled, it will also auto-pause (that might not be correct for the setting-but mine auto pauses).

I’ve had a Fitbit Charge HR, Garmin Vivofit, and I’m currently using a Apple Watch Series 2 and they all worked fine. I never needed to leave one for the other, but I wanted to. I have gotten the most use from the Apple because of the music capability, text, etc.

I have only owned an AW4 so I am not sure how I can call it my favorite or even designate it as the best option for me. I certainly could not call it the best option for another person without knowing their requirements.

The one thing I do not care for is the battery life. The more I exercise the faster it runs down because of the HR monitor. I could turn it off but that defeats one of the purposes of having it.

How'd you like the Vivofit? I'm looking into getting a 3 because you can get a clip for it. I had a Fitbit One for a long time until it died. Bought another off ebay but the battery is soooooo wonky that I want to get away from it.

(I'd suggest the Fitbit One, OP, but....it's no longer being supported.)

I just bought one when they went on sale for BF - I am really liking it! I have had it right at 2 weeks and have yet to charge it (it’s on it’s last bar). The always-on display is so nice! No exaggerated arm motions just to see what time it is. The GPS seems accurate the little I have used it - last run was just a mile (mini brick workout) and it was only .02 miles off from my RunKeeper app. Looking forward to testing out the swim/hike/outdoor bike features soon!
  • I've always loved garmins. I'm a runner and I also cross train with free weights. I currently have the forerunner 35 and I enjoy it! There are more expensive models that I looked into this time around, but when it came time to choose my Christmas gift this year I told my boyfriend to get me the forerunner. It came early and I've used it on a few test runs. It has been great!

I liked it well enough. It’s been a few years and it was the one with the chest strap. That’s why I moved on because I wanted HR but no strap and while the strap is definitely more accurate, I didn’t find the wrist HR watches to be that far off.

The one I had a really good battery if I am remembering correctly. I don’t remember having any issues with it.

Honestly, I would figure out your budget and what features are nonnegotiable and go from there. They’re all kind of the same when you really get down to it. Although, the Apple Watches don’t sync super well with MFP. There’s debate about why, but it doesn’t bother me anymore. Just throwing that out there so you know upfront. I didn’t, I just assumed they would share the info with no issue.
