Hi all!

For a long time I thought about starting juicing.
I saw so many good motivational programs from Jason Vale and Joe Cross.

Any of you did any length of juicing? How did you feel?
Any advice highly appreciated

I used to juice, but it gave me headaches and wasn't filling. Now I make smoothies in my food processor, which is easier to clean, plus I keep the fiber. I add protein powder and fat.

You could google "fat sick and nearly dead juice recipes"

Yeah, juicing seems a waste of good food and fiber. I make smoothies with my fruit and vegetables.

edit to say, yeah, with nuts, seeds and avocado and protein powder. (fat and protein)

I also enjoy smoothies, although I make them much more often in the summer. Staple summer breakfast is one with some berries, greens and other veg, homemade cashew milk or else avocado, and greek yogurt or sometimes tofu.

I might try making some vegetable-based juices as a friend promised me his juicer, but I've heard from everyone that cleaning them is a pain. My blender is easy to clean.

I juiced quite a lot when my digestive problems were at their worst. I have gastroparesis, a paralysis of the stomach and when things were really bad—discussing a feeding tube bad—juicing was one of my primary sources of nutrition. It’s a lot of work. On average, I’d say it takes about five pounds or more of produce to make a glass of juice. A single piece of fruit or veg will yield about a shot glass of juice if you’re lucky. Less if you’re using greens as opposed to say, cucumbers or apples

That’s five pounds of produce to buy, clean, peel and chop to the size of the feeder tube on the juicer. Once you have the juice, you have a whole lot of pulp to figure out how to dispose of. It’s heavy, wet and generally gloppy. If I made more than a serving or two of juice without emptying the trash, it would tear through the trash bags. Then you have to clean all the juicer parts with a wire brush. And by the time you’ve done all that, it’s time to do it again for another glassful.

Juicing was a blessing when I needed it, but expensive in terms of money, time and the waste produced. If you’re bound and determined to juice fast or whatever, just find a juice store and buy the cold pressed stuff.

Skip the fads and stop watching BS from people trying to sell you stuff you don't need.

I used juicing when, similar to a previous poster, I couldn’t stomach solid food due to some unknown medical things going on. It was a way to get nutrition that didn’t make me nauseous. I did enjoy juicing for a portion of my breakfast every morning for quite a while, but I never did it exclusively. I have blood sugar issues (hypoglycemic) and don’t do well without protein.

I managed 15 days once. I felt the best I ever felt in years. It was hard for the first 3 days then it got easier. I would love to do it again just not sure Im motivated enough. Goodluck.

I tried juicing ages ago. It was simply too much prep and clean up. I figured I could just focus on eating more fruits and veg if I wanted more of that nutrition, plus I'd get more fiber in my diet and get filled up more! I really didn't notice a difference in how I felt, but I didn't really expect to. I was just trying to get what was lacking in my diet - produce. It did motivate me to eat more produce so that was a plus. And I still do green smoothies every once and awhile to get more greens than I'd otherwise eat :drinker:

I copied this from an older juicing thread (from November 2018) I wrote. I still feel exactly the same way today...here is it:
When I first started on Mfp 6+ years ago, I started juicing and I "lost" kinda a lot of weight and gained energy extraordinaire...everything was sunshine, roses and lollipops--then, after about 2-3 months--Uh-oh. I hurt my ankle exercising and the super expense of the veggies, the storage of them (UGH) taking up all the room in the fridge, the mess involved in actually making and cleaning up the juicing. THE UNSUSTAINABILITY of it all. The Torture of smelling food I had to cook for my family, the smell of food everywhere, being around family and friends watching them eating and drinking and LIVING and me, drinking some boring and not too tasting juices all day and night---UGH and YUCK. Then it happened, because of the just unreasonableness, the tiresomeness and sheer boredom and just plain "foolishness" on my part of even "doing" juicing in the first place... I went back to my old eating ways (that got me fat in the first place) started eating again, the way I used to and not only did I gain ALL of the "losses" I made in the 2-3 months of juicing back, I gained 20+ more lbs on top of what I lost (in a little less than 6 month time period after juicing)back to my initial starting weight plus a lot more and it took/has taken me 6+ YEARS to finally reach my goal weight after juicing.

Juicing is/was so not good for me. It caused me far more YUCK than before I started juicing. I lost about 20-25lbs juicing(got down to about 175lbs, but GAINED it all back, plus a lot more, almost 220lbs! Today, I'm 153lbs but I'm telling you based on experience, you may "lose" weight and even lose a substantial amount juicing BUT you will "find" all that weight you lost PLUS A LOT MORE. Juicing is so not worth the mess, stress, yuck and torturing yourself drinking juices all the time to lose--I'm speaking from experience. Was my juicing a success? It seemed like it at first, but ultimately super was NOT a success for me, actually was a mega defeat better yet, it was a nightmare to/for me...during the whole process. A waste of time, a waste of a LOT of money and just plain YUCK for me.

Take your time with reaching your weight goals, we didn't gain overnight and it's going to take some time to get it off. How I finally got to goal was taking my time in getting down to size--refusing to "hurry:" the process (like I did when I started juicing--I was trying to "hurry" the process of "losing" weight--that was my real/main goal in juicing). I now am eating whatever I want to, just smaller portions and less frequently.

I love juices but drinking my calories just does not fill me up. Sadly this also includes smoothies. I find it much more satisfying to eat a piece of fruit than to drink a cup of juice. There are fewer calories, fewer dishes, more nutrition and better satiety.
