Way too good to be true.

I get up at 3 and usually spend 3 hours per day average working out. I usually eat breakfast when I get home and immediately start thinking about lunch. I usually finish lunch by 1200 so I can start the clock for two hours because I have to take Cytomel for hypothyroidism and then wait another hour after I take it to eat. Getting through that three hour window without eating is very hard for me.. I decided to start having a bowl of plain popcorn w salt and fake butter spray. Well, in my infinite wisdom I was using a 1/8 th cup measuring cup (2TBS). Somehow I started thinking that one scoop was one tablespoon. I was eating double of what I thought and recorded in MFP. I ate a lot more sweets this holiday and normally give it a day or two and everything gets back to normal. I haven’t gotten back to normal yet, I stil have a couple pounds (2-3) to get back to my norm. Now that I have learned my error and that the big bucket of popcorn I was eating was twice what I thought, I understand why. I am bummed about being up a couple lbs but more bummed that I only get half the bucket of popcorn. Too good sto be true.

All that popcorn was double the calories that I was counting...0

I'm sorry, I'm not following.
Plain popcorn kernels are around 110 calories per 2 tablespoons. So, your daily (?) popcorn (ignoring the spray, since I don't know how much you use) was underestimated by 55 calories per day.
Two to three pounds of added body weight would require 7,000-10,500 calories above maintenance calories. Assuming you were otherwise eating at maintenance, that's 127 to 190 days worth of excess popcorn. Was it really that long? You speak as if the extra 2-3 pounds crept on over the holidays while you were eating sweets, but that you usually lose that weight easily, and are saying the popcorn is why that didn't happen this year. I'm confused abotu the timeline.
You're getting really a lot of exercise. (I'm not saying that's a bad thing; I'm suggesting that ought to give you a pretty decent calorie allowance.) It seems like 55 extra calories would disappear in the noise of estimating error, not cause material weight gain. You mention being really hungry, frequently. I remember some of your other posts. Are you at a really low body weight? Is there any chance that extra holiday stress this year contributed to holding a little extra water weight for a somewhat longer than usual time period?7 -
THanks for your post AnnPT77. I guess I wasn’t very clear. I started my holiday baking in November and I have been having more sugar and sweets than normal. I fully expected to gain some weight. I figured it would have come off but it hasn’t. I am not upset about it but do want it to come off. As far as the popcorn goes, I thought I was eating 4 TBS but in reality it was 8 TBS and that error in my counting could have something to do with the weight not coming off as quickly as I would like. I am sure there are other logging errors too.0

Ah, got it!
I hope things will return to where you wish, and you find a way to feel more full/satisfied. :flowerforyou:0
