Question about breasts

So here is an odd question, my breasts are usually on the side of hard and painful to the touch. Have been for years. Since I lost about 15lb they have completely changed to soft and squishy and not painful. Could the weight loss have some effect with hormonal cycles? I have missed a couple periods, but that isn't really all that strange for me. (No not pregnant either). Anyone have changes in breast texture?

Yes. You lose fat and breasts are mostly fat. Also, your skin won't be as tight, so they'll feel a little softer. Fat and fat loss do affect hormone levels to some extent.1

What does your doctor say?
Fibrocystic breasts can be hard, lumpy, painful (but it's a benign condition, if that's all that's going on). Dietary changes can affect the symptoms (I'm not sure about the underlying condition). Caffeine and fat-intake reduction are some of the things often mentioned. Perhaps weight loss could also affect the symptoms (again, don't know). Menopausal status can also make a difference.3 -
i will have a talk with my doc. I'm in my early 20s though, not really thinking it's menopause.2

i was just going to say - a talk with the doc at your age - absolutely. i'm old so my scenario is very different from yours - good luck and i hope things get rectified!0

I think the doctor consult is a good thing. Missed periods - unless you already have a medical diagnosis explaining it - and undiagnosed breast pain (fortunately now over, but . . . .). It's worth getting a better understanding, even if it's a routine sort of underlying issue.
You're right; shouldn't be menopause in your 20s! Breast cysts are pretty common. If you reduced fats, and caffeine, while losing weight, that could make a difference in symptoms. Also, as Moosie said, fat loss can affect estrogen levels.
Best wishes!2 -
The first place I lost weight (which is different for everyone) was in the breasts. I've lost the most inches from this area, which I know is directly related to the weight loss. However, the texture of my breasts did not change. I would agree with what others are saying...you should be seeing you doctor as soon as possible. For someone as young as you I would play it safe. Diet and losing weight can affect your hormones and body, but some of your symptoms I would check out. Hope in the end the doctor says you are healthy.0
