Have fad diets and the need for quick fixes complicated weight loss

I have a longtime friend who has tried the "wrap thing" and associated diets, tons of fat burner pills, TrimSpa (?), Beachbody, Atkins, keto (although she did not do that remotely close to how you're meant to do it), some sort of "weight loss coffee"...and now she's getting B12 shots and taking phentermine to the tune of hundreds of dollars per month to a ritzy weight loss clinic she can't afford.
She lost 70 lb in 2014 by only eating 1 small meal per day (dangerously low calories). Other than that, she just loses 10-20 and gains it back quickly. She is up more than 100 lb from a decade ago and is constantly spending money and time on fad diets and schemes.
Same friend tells me that CICO doesn't work and I had a metabolism shift, that's the only way I could have achieved and maintained 130+ lb weight loss. She's loudly proclaimed in front of our entire friend group that my eating donuts regularly (1 with black coffee, tyvm) or sharing some nachos at girls night out is "proof" of this, even when she knows that my husband and I cook 90% of our meals at home and carefully calibrate our macros.
I long ago quit engaging with her on these topics. People are crazy.9 -
