Hi everyone.

42 year old (turn 43 on 14th) male 6 foot and 0 inches
So started my journey 8-13-13 @ 295+ (somewhere 295-300) got down to 162.2 pounds 9-2014. Hadn't been in gym since high school football when I was 16. Anyways quickly fell in love with powerlifting and have done 4 meets. (Last was May of 2017)

Few things interfering with gym but pretty much been inconsistent since then (meet went good, just training went down hill about 1 1/2 months after and hasn't been same since) I would train for 2-4 months and then end up missing 1-5 months (5 was most and happened once, last time) anyways I've been going to gym 3 days a week (for most part) last 5 months.

Though the drive to follow a program and work through the lifts, I have been struggling to do that and instead end up doing things I want or feel like. Therefore not progressing on my main lifts. I just dont have the passion I once had and desperately want to get it back.

The last 5 months I have lost 30#'s or so and would like to lose another 30#. Been going slow, not wanting to do any extreme calorie cut. Currently impatiently wanted to get below 240 (I know I'm below but everytime I weigh I'm just over 240, this mornings weight=240.2 pounds)

Have a meet coming up in May and would really like to be there, beating my numbers from before, but it keeps sneaking up and I just havent done the work.

Any ideas? I've started seeing counselor, (been depressed most of my life, but lately worse and hoping that's the problem with drive, but so far still "forcing myself" to go to gym and do anything.

Well, I think it's great that despite the depression you're still hitting the gym! Maybe a tweak in meds would help a little? Consider one or two sessions with a personal trainer at your gym, and ask for a different routine. Sometimes just mixing it up and incorporating more of the things you enjoy with some other more challenging exercises is helpful. I need to do that to combat boredom, which makes it hard to be enthused about anything.
