This is beyond awesome. You're my new hero! I just started lifting last week and you've shown me what I can look forward to. I'd like to send an FR as well. :-)

Thanks Tree! Can't wait to read your report after you kill it in your first meet!!!!!!!0 -
Inspiring and motivational, ....the 'ol "one/two shot" on a Monday that I needed to get myself back back on track, ... thank you and thanks for accepting my FR!0

AAAMMMAAAZZZIIINNNGGG!!!! You are an inspiration and make me want to annihilate my workout today and forever! :drinker:0

Fantastic! What an accomplishment! You look fantastic, but I bet that cut was brutal. Go eat a pizza and gain a few pounds!
I didn't get any pizza, but I've had cupcakes, Mexican food, cheesecake, french pastries, sandwiches, chocolate, peanut butter everything, half a chicken and just about everything in my kitchen. :bigsmile:0 -
Really awesome!! - do you have to do all those lifts? I know I could do some damage in the chest press- and probably the deadlift - but not sure about the squats...I may need a trainer!0

I enjoyed reading this! What an awesome day and wow you! Beating records first time:)
I also have to say it, excuse me in advance, but your black singlet with the white trim and the hot pink underneith is absolutely darling!! I didn't know squat shoes could be cute either! I know where to go now for shopping advice:)
Thank you so much for noticing the outift! I put some thought into it!! Looking fabulous is almost as important as winning!0 -
Wow, loved this. Congrats to you!0

No you don't have to do all three lifts. I believe that with most meets you can sign up to compete in a single lift only. Some meets are only bench and deadlift to begin with. There are plenty of options for competing even if you don't want to do full powerlifitng.0 -
WTG.......it takes a lot of guts to compete0
-
Thank you for sharing the experience.0

Maybe he's aiming for triplets this time?0 -
USAPL lets you continue to have sanctioned lifts after you bomb? Most feds will let you keep lifting but your lifts are not eligible for records. (unless you happen to enter the bench only and deadlift only classes). .
Congrats on your 1st meet, take those squat errors and use them as a building block for next time! It's frustrating when a little technical error causes you to miss a perfect lift!0 -

Thank you! My first squat was good (not a state record, but white lights all around) and that's all you need. It's only if you miss all three that you're in trouble.0 -
Awesome! Way to go! Congratulations on your wins!0

As someone also starting out with a home gym with stuff bought on Craigslist, I found this wonderfully inspiring. I will likely never compete, but the thought that I could if I wanted to is kinda neat. (if they have an old-timers division.... lol!)
Thank you for sharing, and congrats!!
There is definitely a geezer division, called masters. It's usually grouped in10 year jumps- 40-49, 50-59, etc, You compete against everyone in your age group, and they use a formula to figure out who wins.
I have never lifted in a commercial gym, and I used to compete all the time. I had a meet judged 475 bench, 560 squat and 585 deadlift that I trained for in my basement gym. I always did the masters division, back then I was in the 40-49 group.
So..... go for it! It's a LOT of fun.0 -

I'm so glad you responded to this! I had seen this and then couldn't find it again. I love that they call it Masters. So distinguished! And WOW those are some impressive stats!0
