Calorie count

Options
Hey,

I was wondering if anyone noticed that the calories the My Fitness App assigns to certain foods vary quite a bit in comparison to other restaurants. Like Subway for instance states their 6-inch Veggie and Cheese is 200 calories but the app says it is 280 calories or more.

Just makes it hard to determine what calories you are consuming. I think it is important that the numbers are accurate.

The entries in the MFP database are user entered. They can and will be inaccurate. You should always double check with the website for the correct calorie count.

MFP food entries are created by users, and there are old entries that stay in the system for years. The 280 might have been from an old Subway nutrition facts sheet, or it could have been a user who modified their sandwich but didn’t indicate that in the food name. If you can’t find an entry that matches the current nutrition facts for the restaurant, you should create your own food entry to ensure accuracy.
