Have been doing Keto since May 2019. Stopped over the holidays but back on it as of Jan 2. Anybody else on Keto?

I'm not on Keto per se, but I limit my carbs. As a result I have been reading much about Keto and have tried a few Keto recipes. I'm looking for the experience of others to recommend recipes.4

I have been doing Keto since September with intermittent fasting and some longer term fasting thrown in as well. It is working for me but I went off of it a few times and the weight spiked up on the days I was off of it. Starting weight was 260 with a goal weight of 154. I am at 199 today. Best advice I can tell anyone interested is to buy a blood meter that can measure ketones as well as blood glucose. Then figure out your GKI. Also track all calories and macros, and food and exercise. I use myfitnesspal and a journal I keep on word. It is amazing where those carbs hide and I never would have known if I didn't track everything. After you get used to this alternative way of eating and do the research so you feel confident that you are not clogging your arteries with fat even though you are eating lots of it (that took me a long time to get over that fear) and get over your cravings for sugar, the diet is actually very easy to stay on for me. I feel 20 years younger already, my blood pressure has fallen from high levels to low normal range, aches and pains from my joints are mostly gone, no more acid reflux or heart burn problems, skin blemishes clearing up, more energy and a lot more I contribute to Keto. I am 65 years old and am angry that I have been lied to my entire life about diet and had a terrible bout of cancer which I attribute to my past diet which I thought was healthy. I was a raw food vegan before i came down with cancer. I look back on all the carrot juice I drank thinking I was doing my body good and I didn't realize that all those carbs and sugars were doing me so much harm. I am so glad I found something that I know works for me. It may not be what everyone needs but it was what I needed.5

I did lazy keto since March of 2017. I completely spiraled around the holidays and gained back 15 lbs!!! I'm back on track mentally. Today was my first full day back on track. I need an accountability partner if anyone is interested. Even better, if anyone is local we can get together and help each other. I'm in Haverhill, MA.5

I'm on day 5 of my new keto diet. Normally, I'm a pretty active person (walking, biking, martial arts), vaguely follow a Mediterranean diet, and tend to hover around 130lbs (5'3"). But last year, I moved to a new city, started a new job, and both my diet and exercise routines went down the toilet. I only gained about 10 pounds but I know I lost muscle and gained fat because my clothes fit so differently. I'm trying out keto to see if I can burn through some of this extra fat I accumulated in 2019. Bought a cheap breathalyzer to measure acetone on my breath as a proxy for blood ketones and I'm taking some supplements (multi-B, magnesium) to hopefully avoid the keto flu. Going to be throwing in some intermittent fasting, as well, starting today! I also use MyFitnessPal for nutrient and macro tracking but it doesn't show net carbs so it's not perfect for keto (but super helpful for meal planning). It would be great to have people to chat with about their experiences on keto and trade recipes! Good luck to you!3
