Up and down every single morning

How much of an impact would eating salty bedtime snacks have on always being up or down by .5 in weight each a.m.? There has been no consistent gain/loss for a week and I usually stay a little bit under my daily cal. allotment. Yesterday it says I went over by 50 cals., up .5 lb. this a.m.
I'd love to start the scale moving down a bit again and stay there, just so discouragement doesn't set in.
Thank you.

Thank you.

Don't over think it.
Salt - the body regulates by water retention. You can't game the system here. Eat your regular foods, step on the scale and don't get emotionally involved with the number on the scale. A couple pounds one way or the other is to be expected.
Keep moving forward. Don't sweat the small stuff, and don't expect daily losses. It just doesn't work that way.8 -
My weight can fluctuate 1-2 lbs UP from the day before. I have just learned to not be bothered by it as I know the overall trend is still down. If it isn't down in 3-4 weeks, then you need to adjust things. I have also noticed if I am not drinking enough water, I tend to hold onto more weight.1

Water retention is not the same as fat gain. Don’t worry about salt intake unless you have a medical reason to do so.
The scale is not going to go down every week. Sometimes you may even go a month or more without seeing the scale go down. It’s normal. If you are consistently in a deficit, then you are losing fat, but you need to be patient and stick with it.1 -
Try using a weight tracking app with a trendline. I use libra and hear happy scale is good for iphones. That way you watch the trend not the day to day variation2

if you weigh every day, it's about the overall trends. i've changed over 5lbs from day to day.

Bodyweight fluctuates. I can be up or down 3 Lbs day to day. You have to look at the trend over time, not the individual data points. This is what weight loss looks like plotted on a graph...
The red line is the trend...that's what's important.3
