How many calories should I be eating?

How do I figure out how many calories I should be eating? I figured up my BMR but didn't know if it supposed to be less than that? Help!!

    Have you entered your data and weight loss goals into MFP? Choose an appropriate weight loss rate (the less you have to lose, the slower your weight loss should be), your activity level (job, housework,... but NOT counting exercise). MFP will tell you how many calories to consume (aim to reach 0 calories left). When you enter exercise, you will have extra calories to consume that day.

    PS: your BMR is how many calories you need 'to be alive' without any extra activity, so that number doesn't tell you how many calories you burn per day and is therefore not a good basis to determine how many calories you should eat.

    Your BMR is how many calories you'd need if you were in a coma. You definitely don't want less than that. You could figure out your TDEE instead, and take 10% off that to create a reasonable deficit, or you could just enter your information here on MFP and let the app tell you how many calories to eat, based on the goal you tell it.
