Hi there,
Just wanted to share a little about me. I am 18 years old and have struggled with my weight for years. My entire family is overweight to some degree and have also shared in my struggle. My father, uncle, and aunt have all had heart attacks and have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes before they were 50. In addition, heart conditions also run through our blood. I've decided that this trend will end with me and want to get myself in shape before I face the same fate. I am planning a move to colorado here in about a year to 15 months and since it will be a new start- I wanted to begin it healthy and in shape. Any suggestions, tips, ideas, stories, or just comments would be helpful. Thanks!

    Two things.
Stop putting crap in your mouth and move.
    Exercise and healthy eating!
    You can do it!
You have the motivation to be on this site, you have the motivation to lose the weight!
It's a great site with a bunch of great people who are all in the same boat!
Feel free to add me as a friend if you don't mind a smart *kitten* who will tell you how it is!
Good luck with your Journey Dana!

I know what it's like to fight genetics, just keep reminding yourself that while you're eating right/exercisin..Say, "I'm doing this because I don't want to end up like ________"...helps me a lot! This site will give you as much as you put in it, so I hope you stick around! Moving to Colorado will be awesome! It's the fittest state in the US! Maybe you could find an outdoor sport you enjoy that's available there and make it a goal to get into super shape to be able to accomplish it, or try a new one when you move?

Be encouraged Dana. I think it's great that you recognize the cycle your family has and is determined to break it. I know you will achieve you goal. Smaller plates, walk, and no sodas would be a few suggestions.
