DD Coffee, Cream & Sugar

My addiction to coffee with cream and sugar is real. What substitutes have you all used without it tasting funny?? I don’t like Splenda or Equal (those diet taste sweetness).

I’ve switched from Coke to Coke Zero and like that much better than Diet Coke. So if that helps.

I know there are sweetners like stevia, turbinado (although same calorie so I don’t know if that even matters) and agave.

Any thoughts and ideas greatly appreciated!

It doesn't taste fantastic, like flavored creamer and sugar, but I mix whey protein with some almond milk and pour that into my coffee. It's totally guilt-free!

I still use creamer but a lot less! I used to dump it in until it was basically creamer with a little coffee. I sacrifice around 75 calories with 2 cups and creamer ....my taste buds adjusted and it's plenty sweet. I can't stand artificial sweeteners, especially stevia!

I love a good iced caramel coffee with cream & sugar from dunkin donuts. Almost addicted. And then my cardiologist said no more caffeine 😕 But then my fiancé got us a Keurig for Christmas.... with decaf pods😊

I don't add sugar or any sugar substitutes. I measure the exact serving size for the creamer and measure the serving of sugar free caramel coffee syrup. My tastebuds got used to the lower sugar/creamer after about 4 cups.

Black, unsweetened coffee. Because I actually like coffee, and sweet coffee tastes vile.

Have you tried just cutting back gradually, so you're not using as much? Or switching from cream to a lower fat dairy product?

I use protein shakes for creamer in my coffee or I use almond milk with sugar free syrups to flavor up my coffee. I don't use any sugar at all. Just explore all different options.

I used splendra and a little skim milk in mine. Just about a half teaspoon of the splendra makes it pretty good. Good luck

try some of the syrups made with sugar alcohols, such a erethrytol. Those are sugar free (your body doesn't absorb the sugar alcohols), so you might get your sweet from those. Swerve is now available in walmart and has a granulated version, though I admit I didn't care for it's taste myself or the slight cooling effect (though I do love the Swerve brown sugar!) As someone above mentioned, you can also gradually work yourself down to using less creamer and less sugar if you can't find an alternative you like. I myself can't take unsweetened black coffee, either, but I've developed a tolerance to splenda, and I use either low fat milk (around 1/2 c per 12 oz coffee) or usually unsweetened cashew milk (I prefer it over almond milk as it seems creamier and richer to me). 1/2 cup of lowfat milk is around 55 calories, and 1/2 cup of cashew milk is something like 13 calories. Starbuck's white chocolate mocha liquid creamer has a whopping 320 calories for a 1/2 cup of creamer (and its very, very easy to put that much or more into a coffee - I used to do it all the time!)

It took me a long time but I got my taste buds used to no sugar in my coffee. I am now trying to get used to almond milk as a substitute for cream in my iced coffee. I get a DD flavor shot to improve the taste.

Thanks for all the great ideas. This week I’ve been making my coffee at home instead and I’ve been using 1/4 cup of 2% milk and 1TBS of sugar for 24oz. I will cut back again on Monday to half of everything in hopes that I will adjust. So far so good. Thanks for all the ideas, def shows me other options!

I use flavored K Cups, 1 packet of stevia, 1 tablespoon of fat free creamer, it only has 10 calories.
