Anyone else experiencing this??

So I've officially been on my fat loss/fitness program (self directed) for about a month now and in total have lost approx 10 # and about 14".

What I've experienced is that, the happier I become with my progress/success, the LESS supportive I find those (who I thought were in my corner) around me are. I've actually been told that fitness and getting in shape/healthy is all I talk about and I need to quit talking about it.

I was shocked and not expecting this at all. First, YES, I do talk about working out and eating right all the time. How can I not? I've sat on my *kitten* for so long (damn near 20 yrs) and now that it's actually becoming my lifestyle, I'm super excited about it!

Anyone else experiencing this? If yes, how have you been dealing with it? Besides just shutting up, I mean lol.

Yes Zach, you are right, I'm definitely doing this for me. But needed to add, one is my 18 yr old daughter (who I live with and would love to ignore sometimes lol) and the other is my best friend/coworker who I happen to see every day.

It's just so hard to not share this stuff. But when someone tells you that you are making them feel bad because that's all you talk about, guess I have no choice but to just shut up. :/

This is the problem. Most people don't want to hear it. Keep the diet/fitness talk to MFP.

Yes - I completely agree. I have also found that when I first started people were very supportive - now that I am actually losing I hear that I don't eat enough or you need to treat yourself sometimes..

I eat plenty! And I do treat myself when I want and no just because its Saturday I do not want to eat the crappy cake you bought from the grocery store. And yes I talk about eating healthy and working out because it is a big part of my life. I did not lose a large amount of weight by making small changes I made BIG changes.

Totally feel you on this one.

Just because they are getting sick of hearing about it, doesn't mean they are being less supportive. I've lost 44 lbs since Feb but I really only talk about it to people outside of MFP when THEY ask me. Nobody cares what I eat or how I'm exercising. It's boring. It's annoying. I don't want to hear about it from other people outside of this place either.

My friends are my friends for who I am and what interests we share. If they aren't working out or eating different, me constantly talking about it is just going to make them think I'm trying to show off.

    Just my .02 cents.

It's not interesting to most people. If someone wants to talk to you about your diet and fitness, they'll bring it up.

Yeah, people think I've lost it. I just keep it to myself and keep on doing what I do.

I have found that no one likes someone that talks about one thing incessantly. You have found something that makes you happy, and I'm sure that you want to spread the word, but you should probably try to just lead by example, and keep your opinions to yourself unless someone asks for advice.

I agree. I'd just keep quiet and tone it down some. It's tough for people to remain as enthusiastic as you are if they're not doing it too

Thank you Kris and MizTerry! It's so new with me, it's so hard to contain the excitement with every change I make. Glad I'm not the only one! lol

Rowan/Dragon/JW - I hear you all. Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated.

Still bummed, but I get it.

Good news is that you ARE changing for the better so simply lead by example. That you can do without talking about it all the time

I'll admit I was first person to get annoyed when my FB friends would post only about working out and how awesome they are because they workout....But now that I have started and I am feeling better it can be hard to keep the energy/excitement to myself.
I use MFP to let it all out so to say.

I haven't told many people my plan to lose weight to me it's kind of like naming a baby - you tell everyone your babies name and they tell you why it's a bad name and then you start question yourself. This is something I want to do for me and I know I do not want to be questioning myself about it. It's not always easy to be quiet and there are times I have said I had a great walk today or working out with my husband is hilarious but I do not let it take over my life.
