73lb to go and it's a slow crawl

Hi Everyone, nice to meet you all!

A little about me - having struggled with my weight since I was 18 in the last few years - approaching my mid 30s, on antidepressants, experiencing panic attacks for the first time, stressed with a promotion at work - it's been increasingly hard to get the weight to move, despite my best efforts.

So here I am, 5ft 8 with 73lb to lose to be at the top of my BMI range (11 stone 11), and despite a calorie restricted diet I'm still only seeing about 1lb a week. I think my body appreciates my return to health eating, but it would be nice to see the scales reflect it too :-)

Happy New Year, and here's to a great 2020

Jen

Welcome to the community and Happy New Year!

You've done an incredible transformation so far and will only continue to keep improving your body composition. Weight loss is a long term process rather than a short term one and you are making steady progress week by week.

1 lb a week is a very respectable rate of loss!

If you set MFP for 2 lbs a week loss, and youre actually seeing an average loss of 1lb a week (over the course of a few weeks), that means one of 3 things: 1. You are currently eating a bit more than you’re logging, and logging/measuring of food can be tightened up (get a food scale!) 2. Your exercise burns are a bit overestimated, or 3. You are one of those people whose actual calorie needs and exercise burns are different from the average (which means if you’re confident your logging is as accurate as can be, then you can move your calorie goal downward a little bit (think 100 or 200 daily calories) and try that number for a few weeks).

BUT 1 lb a week is awesome!!
