I don’t consider myself an elite athlete. I have never run a full marathon. But I am going to run/walk my first marathon this May (29th). The marathon starts at 17,600 feet and end at 12,500 feet. Any suggestions you have to help me would be appreciated. Thanks

my recommendaton - find a plan and stick to it0 -
Get there a few weeks early so you can acclimate to the altitude. Train with as much downhill jogging as you can. Your legs, especially the quads, will be killing you by the end of the race. Do uphills as well and if you have access to weight machines I would use them too. Do all your long runs on trails, since you will be dealing with a lot of eroded rocky terrain. Assuming you train for the marathon distance with a regular plan and all goes well, your biggest issue will likely be the altitude.1
