My pedometer also has miles, and I know I do a 20 minute mile on flat, so use the "Walking, 3.0 mph, mod. pace, walking dog" entry and put in the time that I spent.

However, I'm not usually on flat, so if it were to take me 25 minutes to do a mile, I'd use 20 minutes of the walking entry plus 5 minutes of "Hiking, cross country."

Is it one that can be linked to Myfitnesspal?

If you just want to track the number of steps you take, you can add a "New Measurement" here at MY HOME > Check in https://www.myfitnesspal.com/measurements/check_in. Once on that page, if you click, Track Additional Measurements - you can add a new field to be reported/tracked. That would not affect any of your calories, it's just an additional Report.

Not sure what your question means, but I think kshama2001 and I covered both possibilities.

Every time I have tried to link anything with I MFP it fails miserably so I don't. My pedometer app measures duration, speed (avg.) and kcals burned. Those are what I enter, creating an exercise if I must.

If you are walking for exercise, then just manually enter the approximate time/distance in MFP. Don't include steps that are part of your everyday activities - shopping, cleaning, work, etc.

Why not? If she were using an activity tracker that is synced to MFP, she'd get credit for them.
