Tethered swimming

So I think my wife is gonna nominate me for the dork of the year award. I made a homemade tethered swimming system for my above ground pool today. Worked great and it kicked my but after going for 45 minutes. Breath stroke and back stroke worked well but free style is very difficult because it is so different from normal swimming. It makes it much harder to get a good breathing rhythm going with freestyle. I was going at a moderate pace and stopped every 10 minutes for about 60 seconds to catch my breath. MFP said I burned around 600 calories. Seems way too high. Anyways I really enjoyed it for a change of pace from my stationary bike.

Maybe try using some hand paddles to increase your pull while tethered. That tethered resistance is awesome for you!0
