Oh boy, I just did 30 mins on Mindy's Cycle Strong DVD and I'm dying. I don't have the remote to my DVD player so I'm stuck wherever the DVD starts at and the first track I had, sure enough, was the Zone 4 for high speed cycling and Hill climbing. My legs are dying since I usually have to stop and walk up lots of hills.

Because of my weight and unsteadiness, I don't have the liberty to stand up while I'm climbing hills so I need to sit for them which is sooo much harder. Only got through the 30 mins and stopped briefly 4 times to drink water but I think it's a good start for a first time. Going to do it again later so I can get myself to a point that hills aren't so bad anymore and I can eventually finish the entire hour workout. As it is, hills are getting much easier and my sister gave me an ego boost the other day. She told me that she could see that my legs were getting really muscular and she was jealous. :blushing: Now if I could drop the weight instead of gaining more muscle I would feel soo much better!

I am going to have to check out this dvd when I get my stationary bike. I am training to do an 80+ mile bike tour in a couple years (it'll take me that long to save up for all the gear I need), and this dvd sounds like it could help me get into riding shape!

Good goal to set! May I suggest, try looking for package deals through a bike shop. A good bike shop will offer bike packages that include a cycle trainer and computerized fittings along with other stuff like your water bottles, bike computer, etc. If you also shop around, you may also find a place that allows for layaways. That's another good way to catch a bike that has been discounted for the new models to come in so you will save a lot of cash that way. Usually they require half down and then you pay every 2 weeks or monthly.

If you were here in Milwaukee I would recommend Emery's Cycle Shop, they have a great bike package and they customize it to any bike you want. The owner took care of me personally and customed my bike for all my injuries so I can ride pain free for the most part. The other bonus I had when I went there is that he is also an Olympic Silver Medalist! How cool is that! I love my bike and the level of service was exquisite. Since my son is getting more interested in running and cycling, I promised him I would buy him a bike from there plus my next upgrade will come from Emery's!

Another thing I would recommend for getting into cycling shape is actually doing small rides. If you're starting out, go hit a few 10 mile trails and go up from there, even with a regular bike. Once you're comfortable with that, then you can move into doing low mileage cycling events. They are a lot of fun and the atmosphere is so energetic. If you're on Facebook, send me a friend's request, here is my link since I have mine by invite only and you can see some of my pictures from past cycling events:

Just leave a little note in there that you are from here so I know who you are. :)

There are 3 DVDs by Mindy that I bought and are only offered separately. They are:

Cycle Strong, Super Cycle: The Best Ride in Town, and Gliding Cycle Circuit
