Looking for ways to measure health at home

I am tracking BMI but I was wondering about body fat percentage
Does the navy body fat percentage formula work?
% body fat = 163.205 x log10(waist + hip - neck) - 97.684 x log10(height) - 78.387
I am also looking at the Mayo Clinics at home fitness tests

As I continue to successfully loose weight I find myself looking for other measures of fitness to help keep me on track and headed the right direction. The closer I get to my weight goal the further ahead I look and I want to stay motivated once I reach my target weight. I am hoping some of these other fitness measurements will do that. I should add that I am not a fit person and have a lot to do before I can consider myself healthy. Any suggestions for people just starting fitness goals would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance!

You can also set your own goals to work towards or baselines to work against. Maybe right now you find walking X distance difficult. So you can track how much easier that gets or how much farther you become able to walk or even run. Don't feel restricted to "official" health determinants. Use your own life and interests as a measure.2

That's a good point. One of the things that started my journey was how difficult a few flights of stairs had become. I couldn't climb without being out of breath way sooner then I felt was appropriate. Having a measuring tool that is already important to me probably will help keep me on track.
Thanks!0
