Hi all. I'm looking for a lunch, which is my first meal of the day, which is gluten free and hassle free as I often eat my lunch in the car between classes I teach. At the moment I eat a yoghurt with nuts but I get so tired in the afternoons.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

You need protein. How about turkey slices wrapped in a cheese wrap (I found those in the store. Its a very thin slice of cheese and acts as a wrap). You can add some green onion, lettuce, etc.. for a little crunch. Or turkey around a pickle.

I like Greek yogurt with fruit, usually apple or banana, and maybe a few pieces of walnut or almonds. You could do tossed salad with meat, cheese, and tomatoes.

Did you only start feeling tired in the afternoon when you started eating this meal?

Were there any other changes in your life around the time that you started eating this way?

Are you in a calorie deficit, and if so: what pace of loss did you select and how much are you trying to lose?

Are you exercising, and if so: what proportion of exercise calories do you eat and how do you calculate them?

One specific meal is probably not the cause of your fatigue. Sustained undereating, sleep issues, stress, medical issues, overexercise, etc. are all more common causes.

In addition, your lunch sounds very small and you’re not eating breakfast, which suggests to me a pattern of undereating and/or eating on a schedule that doesn’t work for your body. I would try eating breakfast. Your lunch is also quite low in carbs, which are the body’s quick energy source. Too many carbs make some people feel sleepy, but adding some carbs—like fruit—could help.

I get sleepy in the afternoons when I have too many carbs and too little protein, and don't exercise during my lunch break.

Your issue sounds like too little calories. You could make your yogurt more substantial, or add a hard boiled egg or two, etc.

What's your weekly weight loss goal?
