Increasing Grip Strength

I just started lifting heavier, and my grip strength is super, super weak. I'm worried it's going to hinder my ability to lift, especially for things like dead lifts. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on how to improve it (other than just continuing to lift, and hoping my hands catch up with my legs :P)? Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Keep training and be patient. I never train forearms or grip directly it just comes with time. You could get lift straps if you don't want it to impact weight you can pull, but your grip strength will grow considerably by just continuing to pull that weight
Squeezing a tennis ball will help.0 -
When I took up golf 6 years ago I kept a tennis ball by my chair and squeezed it while watching TV. Now I can crush rocks into gravel
I just started lifting heavy in July and for all my other troubles, grip strength isn't one of them. Good luck!0 -
Grip will progress along with everything else. If you find it lagging behind then heavy rows, shrugs, farmers walks, chin/pull-ups, etc will help. I try to do at least one exercise involving heavy grip strength, every workout session. I've never had my grip fail me as a result.0
