Perhaps trivial and silly but here it goes.

When trying to figure out how much weight one lost for a month....what weigh-in dates would you take into consideration?

1) January 1st and January 31st? or
2) January 1st and February 1st?

TIA! :)

It doesn't matter. Pick one and go with it.

I normally use a trendweight app (Happyscale for iOS or Libra for Android) which does trend analysis for you.

    If I wasn't though I'd use December 31st vs January 31st.

For women who are menstruating, it's a bit complicated. If the first of the month is the week after your period (or what I used to term "my one good day" ) and the 31st is the week before your period, your scale weight may not reflect the fat loss. So sure use monthly data points but if you are really curious about scale weight, compare points across cycles that are consistent. The non-scale data is pretty helpful too - how clothes are fitting, etc.

I weigh daily and enter my daily weight into a weight trending app (Libra for android) I record any new low weight on MFP then wait patiently for the next new low.

Inbetween the low's my weight goes up and down daily due to all kinds of things but now I have got used to seeing it do this so I no longer get disheartened if I go up a bit as I know it will come down again. As long as I am eating to my calorie goal, weighing my food and logging correctly things even out over time.

The scale is just another tool in your arsenal to give you data on your progress. Along with progress pictures and measurements.
