Please Help - Slowly Sinking

I need help desperately. My eating has become so out of control. I really don't know how it happened (well, I guess I do know - I just lost a handle on my eating habits), but now I can't stop it. It seems like I no longer have any willpower or self-control anymore. I was doing so well for a long time, and then had knee surgery and its been all downhill since then. My knee is better and I've been walking around my neighborhood or on the treadmill, but have not been able to get myself back to the gym, either. I don't mean to sound like a whiner and I apologize if I do. I'm really beginning to dislike myself for not having any self-control anymore, and besides that, my clothes are beginning to get tight, so the weight is coming back. I really, really need help getting back on track.
Any suggestions, please??? How do you pick yourself up and get started again???

I have struggled with lack of motivation myself. It is tough. I have found that knowledge is a powerful thing. Talk to anyone you can about their workouts....what they do, etc. Talk to people about the healthy foods they eat. Talk, talk, talk. The more I started talking to people, the more motivated I was. It makes me get excited about it again b/c someone else always has something they do different or eat different and it makes me want to try it. Another HUGE thing for me is prayer. I pray a lot. I also write in a journal. If you don't think you have enough motivation or willpower to go to the gym like you were doing before your knee surgery, just promise yourself half or a quarter of what you were doing. I'll bet once you get that done, you will want to do more and if you don't, thats okay, you are still one step further than you were when you didn't go to the gym at all. In regards to eating, if you MUST have whatever it is you want and its not healthy, allow yourself again half or a quarter of what you would normally eat and when you are finished eating it, you might not want anymore. Be sure when you are eating you don't sit down with the entire container. You are more likely to eat more that way. Use a plate or a bowl (yes, more dishes but less temptation to eat excessively) and take small portions. You will get there again. Hang in there. You CAN do this!!!0
