Please Help - Slowly Sinking

I need help desperately. My eating has become so out of control. I really don't know how it happened (well, I guess I do know - I just lost a handle on my eating habits), but now I can't stop it. It seems like I no longer have any willpower or self-control anymore. I was doing so well for a long time, and then had knee surgery and its been all downhill since then. My knee is better and I've been walking around my neighborhood or on the treadmill, but have not been able to get myself back to the gym, either. I don't mean to sound like a whiner and I apologize if I do. I'm really beginning to dislike myself for not having any self-control anymore, and besides that, my clothes are beginning to get tight, so the weight is coming back. I really, really need help getting back on track.
Any suggestions, please??? How do you pick yourself up and get started again???

Be-careful that is a tricky slop, you are un happy with yourself so you eat, which only makes it worse. Make a commitment to yourself to start back slow. Re-introduce a healthy life to you. Like first promise your self nothing say after 7. and you'll go to the gym 2x a week, do that for a week or 2 then add more until you get back where you are happy. Get some friends/family to support you. and check in here with us. join a challenge group, find a friend who can contact you outside of here incase you quit logging on ...someone who really can hold you accountable.0

I'm trying to figure this one out myself... I am way off where I should be by now... I feel like I'm starving ALL the time anymore, even when I'm not hungry or haven't exercised... ugh exercise, I need to get back on routine, but am soooo down right now.
I think I just need a slap in face and a kick in the butt lol
I know this didn't help, but if you wanna talk, I'm a great listener:flowerforyou:

My advice- get rid of any junk you have in your house. I dont mean hide it. I mean throw it in a dumpster. If you have to drive or walk all the way to the grocery store for whatever you are craving, you will really consider how much you really want it. The best advice a friend gave me was very similar to that. Then get a friend that you can call and talk to when you feel like overeating. Maybe they can help talk you out of it. Add me if you want any encouragement along the way. Best of luck to you- You CAN do it! You can you can you can!0

Pick it up again...you CAN do it!!! You need to commit to it again and make it a lifestyle--not a diet!!!
Also...why is your eating out of control? You need to take control of it. You and only you can do that!
I just read the book, "Women, Food, and God" by Geneen Roth--I would highly recommend this book to you! It really helped me put food into a different perspective!!!
COMMIT!
"There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you are interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you are committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results."~Kenneth Blanchard0 -
Every journey has it's lesson, and this is a lesson most of us either struggle with on a daily basis or just need to learn a lot...(that's me) but everyone come across a time when they should have ate so much or has regressed from eating healthy. I did, about a 1 month ago for 2 straight months, I ate fast food and didn't exercise at all...I knew what I was doing but kinda didn't care and the guilt only drives you to the food more for some reason, so this is what I did.
1. I STOPPED, even if I've blown my calories for the day, why keep eating more and more that only makes it worse.
2. I realized that I made a mistake, and I acknowledged that I am human and I forgave myself.
3. I started fresh and clean the next morning...there's not I'mma wait till Sunday or Monday deal...what's stopping you, me, or anyone else from starting fresh and clean again the next day...or even the same day.
I exercised that night and began again, blogging and logging exercise and calories when I could...then I joined this site!
The hardest one was forgiving myself, I was on a roll, I was losing 2 lbs a week...and eating great...but if you truly want to overcome and lose the weight you'll have to forgive yourself and let it go, let it be your lesson.
This will keep you on track.
Hopefully this helps!:flowerforyou:0 -

I agree with getting rid of the junk....i had to do the same, i have reached a point where i can have some stuff in my house, but for the most part it can't be here.0 -
Throw out all the junk food. Eat small meals every 2-3 hours so you never have that I'm starved feeling which will make you overeat. Try to eat high fiber filling foods and drink tons of water to help you fill full longer.
Any exercise no matter how little is better than none, so start small with better foods and walks. Your mood will follow your better eating and exercise routine. Put is on your calender each day like a doctor appt, and make it a point to do it. Just take it one day at a time. Try to set a goal something small, like lose 2 or 5 lbs and get a new top or go see a movie. Set goal for 5-10 pounds lost a new pair of shoes, each goal gives you something to look forward to that is not food related. Think of things like new sports bra, new workout pants or top, new tennis shoes for working out, a food scale or a george foreman grill.
Try some resistance bands to do when your at home and can't get to the gym. Do reps every time a commercial comes on the tv, anything that gets you moving is a plus your mood will follow, I promise.
I workout to feel better, it lifts my mood and relaxes me. The weigh lose is a benefit that comes from the better diet and exercise. If you change your mindset you will change your habits, all they are habits just a matter of choice to make a good habit or bad habit.
Hold your head up high and take it one day at a time. I wish you all the best on your journey, try not to think negatively it will keep you in a rut. Think positively and you will see a positive results.0
