Do you eat less on rest days when cutting?

I currently train 4-6 per week. I eat 1600 cals. It might seem too low but trust me it’s not. I am only 5.2ft. I am just wondering on rest days do you eat the same amount or less?!!

Thanks x

I look at overall calories for the week, but generally yes I eat less on non-lifting/cardio days when I'm cutting and calorie cycling. Sometimes I have a complete rest day on a weekend and I will eat in surplus. So it really depends on how I feel and my schedule.

You don't have to overcomplicate it though, go by how you feel and just make sure your overall deficit works out.

I’m also 5”2. My calories are already low, so I don’t go lower. With my NEAT, I’m still in a deficit on a rest day.

On days I workout, I usually eat back those calories but remain around 1500-1600 (depending on my hunger for the day), with usually 100-300 calories burned, depending on my activities of the day. On rest days, with 0 exercise calories, I typically try to eat around 1400-1500. I tend to feel a little hungrier on rest days than on days I have a satisfying workout, not sure if that's a mental thing or a physical reaction or what.

In the sense I eat more when I exercise you or a very high activity day could say I eat less on a rest day.
Can't remeber when I last had a rest day though!

    I don't rest. I workout 7 days a week
  • I don’t. I tend to feel hungrier on rest days so I don’t cycle calories on purpose anyway.

I don't usually do rest days, I try to do something each day but on days with less exercise calories I'll eat less. Only exceptions are on vacations and holidays. I really dislike going in the red even though it's a gimmick!
