How many calories does deep frying adds to food?
For an example: Deep frying chicken/fish/fries and oven frying chicken/fish/fries.
in general how do I know how much calories I'm adding to any foods that is fried. I know it will also depends on how long I'm frying foods for.

Measure the amount of oil you use at the beginning before cooking.
Measure the oil that's leftover (once cooled) at the end.
The difference is how much you used.
Add that as part of your recipe.5 -
While the most accurate way to do it, measuring the difference in volume of the oil used b4 and after frying food is too anal and too much of a hassle for me.
An easier way is to compare the cal count in the MFP database between the food item raw vs fried. I just looked up the #'s for a raw vs fried skin on 6 oz chicken leg and came up w/384 raw and 580 fried. Or about 2 tbsps of oil (about 120 cals/tbsp).
So, I'd figure about 1 tbsp of oil per piece of chicken leg and probably a bit more for a fulk chicken breast.
The same calculation can be made for any other raw vs fried food item. Just make sure the entries you use to make the comparison are reasonably accurate by checking it against the USDA database.
Just a few clicks on your computer will do it.5 -
Be mindful that some foods will absorb significantly more oil when fried than others and I believe the temperature and duration of frying will also have an effect.3
