Can someone explain remaining calories

From what I've read I need to consume the remaining calories to achieve my goal. Is that right? or can I just leave my remaining calories alone?

Is it bad for me if I don't consume the remaining calories? will it have a negative impact if I continually have a few remaining calories like 200-500 or occasionally 1000+/-?

Is your goal to lose weight or gain weight?

If your goal is to lose weight, then having a few remaining calories from time to time isn't going to be a big deal. If you're consistently under your goal by a significant amount, then you're running the risk of not eating enough. It makes it hard to meet your nutritional goals, can lead to unnecessary muscle loss, and can result in low energy or even serious health risks. 1,000 calories is a lot and if you're regularly leaving that much then something is off. You're either not eating enough or you're not accurately measuring what you're eating (or how many calories you're burning).

If your goal is to gain weight, you need to meet your calorie goals in order to do that. There's no way to gain weight unless you're eating more than your body is using.

Thanks for all the replies I plan to lose some weight I'm around 80kg and want to go around 65kg. I am overweight and want to get my weight down to my height to alleviate some health conditions.

I'm planning to eat a lot, I thought that my current consumption of food would be at the right margin guess I was far far off.

One more thing question about muscle is it possible that I can't lose weight because of my current body build? I started exercising 4-5 times a week for the past month and even before all the exercise I play basketball because of it I've built up a whole bunch of muscle on my legs, especially legs and arms.

No. Everyone is capable of weight loss, even muscular people.

You realize bodybuilders cut weight/fat to get ready for the stage, right? Having muscle won't prevent you from losing fat.
